Motivational Monday: 3 Tips to Beat the Holiday Slump

The holiday season is upon us and that means you probably have a million things competing for your attention. You have to finish your holiday shopping, pack your bags to travel to your in-law’s house, finish that report at work, pick your kids up from school, go to the office holiday party, and the list goes on and on. Your growing list of things to do could leave you feeling distracted at work, or worse, unmotivated. But, have no fear! Here are three ways to beat that holiday slump.

Make Lists

This goes for you professional and personal life. Writing things out will help you keep track of everything that needs to be done. By simply getting everything out of your head and onto paper (or, for the digitalists out there, in your phone) will help you feel less overwhelmed and ensure you don’t forget anything. Plus, you’ll get a great sense of accomplishment from crossing things off your list.

Take Time Off

And I don’t just mean taking time out of the office. I mean leave your work at work and truly unplug from your daily grind for a day or two. It is amazing how recharged and rejuvenated you will feel once you relax. That new found sense of calm will also help you be more productive and efficient when you do head back into the office!

Take Care of Yourself

Working out and getting enough sleep can work wonders on your psyche. Just like taking time off will help you feel renewed, so will taking care of yourself. And you won’t only feel healthier, you’ll be healthier which makes all the difference in your mental state. Exercising and sleeping properly will make you happier and increase focus which are all good things for you, in and out of work.
