The AddShoppers Team headed out last week for the 2015 Internet Retailer Conference & Exhibition (IRCE) at McCormick Place in Chicago.
Held annually, IRCE is one of the go-to events for over 10,000 retailers, technology vendors, designers, and suppliers to the e-commerce trade. Over 600 companies host displays in the 250,000 square foot exhibit hall, and running concurrently are several educational tracks designed to share best practices, case studies, and emerging technologies. On top of all that, there are many off-site networking events, and of course, parties!
This was the debut of our booth in the main exhibit hall, and we were staffed accordingly, with co-founders Chad and Jon, account executives Meredith, Will, Andy and Travis, and most of the marketing team consisting of Kellye, Peter and Richard. We really wanted to make a splash with our current clients and suppliers, prospects, and the e-commerce community at large. Given the non-stop traffic to our booth (#111), we are pretty sure we accomplished our goals! Not only did we greatly increase the visibility of AddShoppers, we also launched our #AddLove campaign, in support of ENDcrowd, a grassroots crowdfunding organization committed to ending human trafficking.
Upon arrival at the conference on late Tuesday, June 2, we immediately began the task of setting up. As you can see, it was a daunting task with not much to work with…until we found all of our booth materials. We quickly got our gear from the FedEx office and within an few hours, we were good to go!
On Main Day 1 of the conference, we were super busy at our booth. We had lots of existing clients stopping by to say hello, which is always a great way to personalize the relationship and put a name to a face. We also saw a keen interest from prospects across the e-commerce spectrum. It is amazing to see the number of retail segments represented at IRCE…reflected in the attendees who visited us from sectors such as clothing, automobiles, furniture, jewelry, textiles, sporting goods, arts & crafts, event services, and non-profits.
The day ended with one of the highlights of IRCE, the Rooftop Party at the Wit (hotel). We were proud to be one of the co-sponsors of this event, in conjunction with Tealium, a valued tech partner. This was one of the “see and be seen” parties of the entire conference, and AddShoppers were out in full force enjoying the moment and unwinding with fellow attendees.
On Main Day 2, IRCE was in full swing and attendees were busy visiting booths and attending the presentations, which featured topics across a broad array of e-commerce issues, such as social, video, merchandising, small business, and strategy.
At our AddShoppers booth, we continued to discuss our onsite marketing platform with new prospects and current clients alike, since we’ve introduced many new refinements on our social commerce applications. Our marketing team was also out in full force, talking with attendees and technology partners, giving on-site podcasts, and looking at booth ideas for next year. We also promoted our #AddLove campaign (which you can still support, through our partner ENDcrowd).
On Wrap-Up Day 3, some of the team returned to our home base of Charlotte, NC, while the sales and marketing guys spent one more day on the floor…there were still plenty of folks coming by Booth #111, and we wanted to get the word out to every last one! We also came up with our own AddShoppers “Best of IRCE” award, given to those exhibitors for such distinctions as “Best Lounge”, “Best Green Pants”, “Most Awards Per Square Foot”, and of course, “Best Interview with a Brontosaurus”. You’ll have to watch the video to see it all!
We returned home to our new headquarters in Charlotte, ready to follow up on all the interest expressed by attendees. But not before taking a well-deserved weekend rest!
