Smart Sharing Buttons 2.0: What You Need to Know

Last week you may have noticed something looked different on your site. Assuming you hadn’t made any changes yourself, that difference was probably the new AddShoppers Sharing Buttons. The new buttons not only have a new look, but they also come with a new configuration panel in your AddShoppers Dashboard. I know what you’re thinking: now you have to learn all about these new buttons and their configurations. And what if you had custom buttons installed? Don’t worry! Read on to find out exactly what you need to know.

The Look

The most obvious change is the look of the buttons. We’ve rounded out the corners and flattened out the appearance of the buttons. We like to think this gives the buttons a more sophisticated, versatile and streamlined look. But, let’s be honest, they just simply look better.

The Configuration

Adding Smart Sharing Buttons to your site is easier than ever now! No more manually adding HTML to your site’s backend (and if that sounded daunting you know why we wanted to make this simpler). And no more complicated procedures just to customize the color of the buttons. We listened to your feedback and improved the configuration process.

As you can see in the image above you can still select the size, position and features displayed on the button panel. Pro customers can change the background and icon colors to customize the buttons to your branding. Then when you have the buttons just the way your want them click the ‘Activate’ button and ‘Push It Live.’ It’s that simple! The buttons will be added to your site in no time.

The Customization

If you want buttons displayed using custom CSS (read: Cascading Style Sheets) you may have to make some adjustments. You’re going to need an icon sprite image and to do some work in your backend, but everything you need to know and the instructions to follow can be found here.

Did the change break your custom sharing buttons?

If you’re using custom sharing buttons, there’s a small chance that your custom sharing buttons might not be showing anymore. However, all you have to do to restore your buttons is make some small changes to the CSS that you used to customize your buttons originally. Just follow the instructions here to re-install your custom sharing buttons.
