AddShoppers, Inc., including affiliate SafeOpt (“AddShoppers”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) operates the addshoppers.com and safeopt.com websites (each a “Website,” or “Site” and collectively the “Website,” as the context dictates). Personal information we collect via our services, products, features, technologies, and content offered through the Website or by contacting our customer service or otherwise engaging with us (the “Services”) is subject to this Privacy Policy.  Please familiarize yourself with our privacy practices. By using any Services, you accept this Privacy Policy and agree to the collection and use of your personal information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. We use the term “personal information” in this Privacy Policy to describe information that identifies, relates to, describes, references, is reasonably capable of being associated with, or could reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly, with a particular individual, household, or device.  We do not consider personal information to include information that has been aggregated and/or otherwise de-identified such that it does not identify a specific individual, household or device.

This Privacy Policy, together with our Terms of Use governs use of our Services. This Privacy Policy also describes individual choices regarding our use and the individual’s access to your personal information.

1. Personal Information We Collect and How.

We collect personal information two ways: 1) through our business practices described below, including when provided to us by individuals, and 2) automatically, through our technologies. 

We collect the following personal information of our customers’ business contacts to serve our customers: name, email address, street address, and telephone numbers.

We collect individuals’ email addresses provided to us through safeopt.com, and as part of our business through widgets, cookies and other technologies on our customers’ and partners’ websites.  If you request a demonstration on addshoppers.com, we collect your name, email address, and company name. We request similar information if you ask for information about the Services or a quote. Our customers may ask a question through the Help Center on addshoppers.com; providing your email address is required for us to respond, and we may eventually need to speak to you by phone. If you apply to work for us through addshopppers.com, we collect your name, email address and ask that you share your LinkedIn profile with us, which may contain assorted personal information determined by you, and you may share resume and portfolio data with us.

To the extent we combine personal information with other information which in the aggregate would be identifying to an individual, we will treat the information as personal information under this Privacy Policy 

We and our third party service providers also automatically collect technical personal information from users of the Services, including:

  • Information about the device(s) you use to access the Services, including MAC address, IP address, browser type and version, time zone setting, browser plug-in types and versions, operating system and platform, device type, and device identifiers;

  • Information about your visits to the Website, including the full URL clickstream to, through and from pages on the Website (including date and time);

  • Information we need and use to facilitate your use of the Website (including to provide access to third party websites and services), such as URL requests, destination IP addresses, email addresses, or device configuration details;

  • Pages you viewed or searched for, page response times, download errors, length of visits to certain pages, page interaction information (such as scrolling, clicks, and mouse-overs), and methods used to browse away from the page.

The technologies used for automatic data collection include “cookies” (small data files, including cookies, pixel tags, and/or other local storage provided by your browser or associated applications) on your computer, browser, mobile phone, or other device.  We may use both session cookies, which expire and no longer have any effect when you log out of your account or close your browser, and persistent cookies, which remain on your device until you erase them or they expire. We encode our cookies so that we or our third party service providers can interpret the information stored in them.  You are free to decline cookies if permitted by your computer, browser, mobile phone, or other device, although doing so may interfere with your use of some Services.

We may obtain personal information from third parties as well. Our customers may provide us with email addresses of their customers or prospective customers. We may obtain personal information from advertising networks, data analytics providers, social networks, and consumer data resellers. 

If someone chooses to use our referral service to tell a friend about our Website or one of our customer’s products or services, we will ask for the friend’s name and email address. We will automatically send the friend a one-time email inviting him or her to visit the Website. AddShoppers stores this information for the sole purpose of sending this one-time email and tracking the success of our referral program.  

2. How We Use Personal Information. We may use any personal information we collect for any one or more of the business or commercial purposes below:

  • Operate the Services, including administration, internal operations, troubleshooting, debugging, fraud prevention, data analysis, testing, research, statistical and survey purposes;

  • Manage access to the Services;

  • Send information to use or in connection with the Services;

  • In response to lawful requests by public authorities, including to meet national security or law enforcement requirements;

  • To comply with laws, regulations and legal process, such as to comply with a subpoena, bankruptcy proceedings, or similar legal process when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request;

  • Maintain the security of the Services, our assets and technologies;

  • Improve, test, personalize, develop and improve the Services, including to create new analytics, algorithms, or other tools;

  •  Advertise and market our products and services, and the products and services of our business partners, including by presenting tailored content and advertisements through our Website, third-party sites, or email; 

  • Measure or understand the effectiveness of advertising we serve to users, customers, and others, and to deliver relevant advertising;

  • Provide information about goods or services that may interest our audience;

  • Send emails about updates, information, or alerts regarding the Services; and

  • Evaluate or conduct a merger, divestiture, restructuring, reorganization, dissolution, or other sale or transfer of some or all of our assets, whether as a going concern or as part of bankruptcy, liquidation, or similar proceeding, in which personal information held by us is among the assets transferred.

We display personal testimonials of satisfied customers on our Website in addition to other endorsements. With the testimonial giver’s consent, we may post their testimonial along with their name. If you wish to update or delete your testimonial, you can contact us as shown below. 

3. How We Share Personal Information. We may share personal information with third parties as follows:

  • Service Providers.  We engage with select service providers who provide services to support our operations such as:  analytics; web hosting; app development; advertising and marketing vendors, and other service providers.  Such service providers will be limited to using your Personal Information to provide their services to AddShoppers, or as otherwise permitted by law. 

  • Other Parties. As further described in the “HOW WE USE PERSONAL INFORMATION” above, we may share your information when we have reason to believe that disclosing the information is necessary to prevent fraud, damage to person or property, protect and secure our business, assets, user accounts or enforce legal rights or comply with subpoena, court order, legal process or obligations. We may share personal information back with you at your request, and with third parties to whom you direct or consent. 

  • Successor Entities. We reserve the right to sell, disclose or transfer your personal information to a successor entity in the event of a corporate merger, consolidation, sale of assets or other corporate changes respecting AddShoppers.  

The Website may offer publicly accessible blogs or community forums. Users should be aware that any personal information provided in these areas may be read, collected, and used by others who access them. To request removal of your personal information from our blog or community forum, contact us at dataprotection@addshoppers.com. In some cases, we may not be able to remove your personal information, in which case we will let you know if we are unable to do so and why.

4. Do-Not-Track Requests; Third-Party Tracking.

Unless your browser settings are configured to make your online activities and publicly available information about your online activities invisible to usage analytics tools, we do not presently have the capability to omit you from usage analytics to the extent your browser sends us a “do not track” message. However, third parties, other than our vendors assisting with making the Website available do not have authorization from us to track your uses of the Website or track what other activities you may have engaged in before or after using the Website (for example, using a different website). That said, we cannot control third-party tracking and there may be some third-party tracking that occurs without our knowledge or consent.

If we partner with a third party to either display advertising on our website or to manage our advertising on other sites. Our third party partner may use technologies such as cookies to gather information about your activities on this website and other sites in order to provide you advertising based upon your browsing activities and interests. Please note this does not opt you out of being served ads. You will continue to receive generic ads.

5. Your Choices.

You have certain choices to control the collection and use of information about you by us. By opting out of Website or mobile device tracking through your browser or device settings, you can limit the information that is collected and/or how it is used. If your personal information changes, or if you no longer desire our service, contact us as indicated below in this Privacy Policy. You may opt out of marketing emails from us at any time by using the unsubscribe link in the email, but please note that will not affect our ability to email you about our business relationship or Services you have requested.  

6. Third Party Services. This Privacy Policy applies only to the Services provided by AddShoppers, not to any third party services.

  • The Services may contain links to the websites of our business partners, advertisers, social media sites, and other third parties.  If you follow a link to any of these websites, please note that these third parties have their own privacy policies, and that AddShoppers does not accept any responsibility or liability for such third party privacy policies or practices.  Please check the individual policies before you submit any information to or through any linked third party website.

  • Some of our pages utilize framing techniques to serve content to/from our partners while preserving the look and feel of our Website. Please be aware that you are providing your personal information to these third parties and not to us in such instances. 

  • Our Website includes social media features, such as the Facebook® button and widgets or interactive mini-programs that run on our website. These features may collect your Internet protocol address, which page you are visiting on our website, and may set a cookie to enable the feature to function properly. Social media features and widgets are either hosted by a third party or hosted directly on our Website with third party content. Your interactions with these features are governed by the privacy policy of the company providing it.

  • You can log in to our Website using sign-in services such as Facebook Connect or an Open ID provider. These services will authenticate your identity; provide you the option to share certain personal information (such as your name and email address) with us, and to pre-populate our sign up form. Services like Facebook Connect give you the option to post information about your activities on this website to your profile page to share with others within your network.

7. Security. AddShoppers maintains administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect the user's personal information and other information against accidental, unlawful or unauthorized destruction, loss, alteration, access, disclosure or use. For example, we and/or our service providers use commercially reasonable security measures such as encryption, firewalls, and Secure Socket Layer software (SSL) or hypertext transfer protocol secure (HTTPS) to protect Personal Information.   Although we take reasonable steps designed to protect your personal information, please be advised that no security system or means of transmitting data over the Internet can be guaranteed to be entirely secure (including without limitation with respect to computer viruses, malicious software and hacker attacks).  We cannot and do not guarantee or warrant the security of your personal information or any information you disclose or transmit to us.  We are not responsible for the acts of those who gain unauthorized access, and we make no warranty, express, implied or otherwise, that we will prevent such access, and we are not responsible for any damages or liabilities relating to any such incidents to the fullest extent permitted by law. Where required under law, we will notify you of any such loss, misuse or alteration of personal information that may affect you so that you can take the appropriate actions. For your own privacy protection, we urge you to keep all passwords confidential.  We also recommend that you do not include sensitive information such as passwords, social security numbers or payment information, in any emails that you send to us. 8. Data Retention. We will retain personal information for as long as an individual user’s account with us is active or as needed to provide the Services or fulfill our business and commercial purposes. We will retain and use personal information as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. After expiry of the applicable retention periods, your personal information will be deleted. If there is any data that we are unable, for technical reasons, to delete entirely from our systems, we will put in place appropriate measures to prevent any further use of such data.

9. Children. he Sites and Services are not designed or intended to be used by anyone under the age of 18. If you are under the age of 18 (or a minor in the jurisdiction in which you are accessing our Sites or Services), do not use the Services, or make purchases via the Services, use any interactive features of the Services, or post any personal information to our Sites or submit any personal information via the Services. We do not knowingly or intentionally gather personal information about children who are under the age of 16.  If a child has provided us with personal information, a parent or guardian of that child may contact us to have the information deleted from our records. If you believe that we might have any information from a child under age 16 in the applicable jurisdiction, please contact us dataprotection@addshoppers.com. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected the personal information of a child under 16, or equivalent minimum age depending on jurisdiction, we will take steps to delete the information as soon as possible and cease the use of that information in accordance with applicable law.  

10. International Transfers. We have centralized some of our data processing activities in accordance with applicable laws, and as a result, we may, directly or indirectly through our organization and affiliates, and through third-party entities around the world, process, store, and transfer the information you provide, including your personal information, as described in this Privacy Policy. Specifically, the information and Personal Information that we collect may be transferred to, and stored at, a location outside of your jurisdiction. The jurisdiction where your personal information will be processed may or may not have laws that seek to preserve the privacy of personal information. Your personal information may also be processed by staff operating outside of your jurisdiction who work for us or for one of the organizations outlined in this Privacy Policy in connection with the activities outlined in this Privacy Policy. By submitting your personal information using the Sites, you agree to this transfer, storing or processing. We will take all steps necessary to ensure that your personal information is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy. We have put in place commercially reasonable technical and organizational procedures to safeguard the information and personal information we collect on the Sites.

11. Changes to this Privacy Policy. We reserve the right to modify this Privacy Policy at any time and may apply changes to previously collected information, as permitted by applicable law. From time to time, we may change or update this Privacy Policy.  You acknowledge and agree that we may notify you about any material changes in the way we treat Personal Information by placing a notice on the Website. Your continued use of the Services after any such posting shall constitute your acceptance of such changes.  If you do not agree with any such changes, please stop using the Services.

Your CCPA Rights and how to Exercise Them

If you are a California resident, you have certain rights, pursuant to the California Consumer Privacy Protection Act (“CCPA”). These CCPA rights may only apply in certain circumstances and are subject to certain exemptions.  Where an exemption may apply, we will inform you if we’re unable to fulfill your request. Please note that we are required to verify the request in accordance with applicable law and may ask for certain information to verify your identity.   

  • Right to Opt-Out of Sale. We do not presently sell personal information within the meaning of the CCPA, and so do not offer a mechanism to opt-out or ask us not to sell your personal information.  

  • Right to Know. You have the right to request that we disclose what personal information we collect, use, disclose and/or sell about you. To exercise your right to know, please Contact Us to submit your request. You will be required to provide certain information which we will use to verify your request.

  • Right to Delete. You have the right to delete personal information that we collect or maintain about you. To request deletion of your information, please Contact Us to submit your request. You will be required to provide certain information which we will use to verify your request. Please note that certain exceptions apply to this right, such as when we must retain your information to comply with law. We will notify you of any such exceptions as applicable to your request. 

  • Right to Non-Discrimination. You have the right not to receive discriminatory treatment by us for the exercise of any of your CCPA rights. However, we may offer certain financial incentives, charge reasonable fees related to your requests, or deny your right to know, right to request deletion, or right to opt-out of sale in accordance with applicable law.

You can exercise your CCPA rights yourself or you can designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf. Your authorized agent must be able to demonstrate authority to act on your behalf as further instructed when submitting a verifiable request. 

Third-party Marketing Disclosure

Under California Civil Code Section 1798.83, California residents with whom we have a business relationship can request certain information regarding what types of personal information, if any, we shared with third parties for the direct marketing purposes of the third parties and the identities of the third parties with whom the business has shared such information in the immediately preceding 12 months. You may request this information by contacting us using the contact information at the top of this “NOTICE TO CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS” section or under the Contact Us section.If someone chooses to use our referral service to tell a friend about our Website or one of our customer’s products or services, we will ask for the friend’s name and email address.
