About Just Tryan It
A group of devoted women established Just Tryan It to support a friend whose child, Ryan Darby, had been diagnosed with cancer. In Ryan's honor, Just Tryan It became an official non-profit in 2010, with a mission to "positively impact the lives of families whose children have been diagnosed with cancer by providing financial assistance." Their inaugural fundraising event was a children's triathlon, a custom that still continues. These triathlons promote children's health while cultivating community service and philanthropy. Children learn empathy, compassion, and the significance of helping others through participation. They are encouraged to secure pledges and raise awareness of the challenges faced by families with ill children.
Just Tryan It delivers essential financial aid, education, and guidance to hundreds of families grappling with pediatric cancer. They provide families with critical financial assistance, resources, and information to traverse the intricate world of cancer treatment. By collaborating with medical professionals and institutions, they ensure that families receive comprehensive support. In 2022 alone, they supported and positively influenced the lives of 214 families.
Update: Just Tryan It Children's Triathlon in Chapel Hill Exceeds Expectations, Raises Over $145,000
We're thrilled to announce the incredible success of the Just Tryan It Children's Triathlon in Chapel Hill. With over 350 racers registered, the event sold out and surpassed all expectations. Despite weather-related adjustments, the participants' enthusiasm and flexibility were exceptional. The event raised over $145,000, making it the highest-grossing event for Just Tryan It in Chapel Hill. These funds will provide crucial support to families battling cancer at UNC and Duke, helping them with financial assistance during their challenging journey.
